Voyager Radio A Journey Through Music
Born long before the digital age of streaming and instant music, I grew up in a world where every note felt alive. From an early age, music quickly became more than just a sound—it became my passion and a guiding force in my life.
I started out on my very first drum set, discovering the joy of rhythm and the power of creating something that could move people. The soulful grooves of early R&B and Blues instantly captured my heart, laying the foundation for everything I would come to love about music. Soon after, the rich sounds of Jazz, Funk, and Soul found their way into my daily life, shaping not only my taste but also my identity as a musician.
By 1958, I had joined my first band. It was there that the other musicians began calling me “Deacon”, a name that stuck with me and became part of who I am. That nickname carried more than just a title—it was a sign of respect, connection, and brotherhood through the music we shared.
Years later, when I had the chance to bring my music to wider audiences and connect with people beyond the rehearsal room, I decided to keep using the name Deacon. It became a symbol of my journey, my influences, and my enduring love for the rhythms that started it all.
For me, music has never just been a hobby or a career—it’s been a lifelong calling. Every beat, every note, every performance is another chapter in the story that began the moment I first sat behind those drums.
